DOUBLE CHOCOLATE BELGIAN WAFFLES – These simple, yet decadent chocolate waffles are topped with fresh whipped cream and berries. They’re soft, delicious and sure to brighten your morning.
Double Chocolate Belgian Waffles are perfect for a decadent breakfast treat, especially if you’re looking for a way to spoil a loved one. Even though the words “double chocolate” are in the name, these waffles are not so chocolatey that only chocoholics can enjoy them. The chocolate is well balanced.
These waffles will be very soft when fully cooked and ready to pull off the iron. You may need a spatula to help remove the them. DO NOT leave them on the iron until the edges are crispy, the waffle will be overcooked. Once the waffles cool down the edges will crisp up a bit.
In the event you don’t eat all the waffles in one sitting, I have found the best way to warm up leftover waffles is in the toaster. Warming them up in the microwave always leaves them soggy.
Fresh berries and whipped cream are the classic way to top these waffles, but a nice berry syrup would also go wonderfully. I use a Belgian waffle iron to make these, however I’m sure that a regular waffle iron would work just as well.
A special thank you to my ever-supportive and amazing brother for supplying me with the cutest photo props.
