SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS – Simple ground beef and sausage meatballs topped off with a tangy brown sugar and tomato sauce.
Sweet and Sour Meatballs are a classic dish in my home. I make them frequently and I almost always have the ingredients on hand.
I’ve had the recipe in my collection for many years. It was shared with me by my sweet sister-in-law. Her and her husband served this dish one night when we were over for dinner and she was kind enough to pass on the recipe.
To heat up leftover rice, I add the rice to a microwave safe dish, add a little water and cover with a damp paper towel. The rice will fluff up again.
I generally serve Sweet and Sour Meatballs over rice, but they are also great as meatball subs. I just serve them on a hearty brat bun, spread a little of the sauce and then melt cheese on top of that.
Here’s what you need to make Sweet and Sour Meatballs…
- Ground beef
- Italian sausage
- Evaporated milk
- Egg
- Dried minced onion
- Tomato sauce
- Apple cider vinegar
- Brown sugar
- Basil
- Dry mustard
