BACON-WRAPPED LITTLE SMOKIES – Cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon, with a dusting of caramelized brown sugar on top. This simple appetizer is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Bacon-Wrapped Little Smokies are another family favorite! They’re super simple to assemble, only require 3 ingredients, and they are a great addition to any party spread.
You can serve Bacon-Wrapped Little Smokies right out of the oven, just transfer them to a serving platter. I like to keep them warm for the entire event, so I move them straight into a medium-sized crock pot set to warm. Then I periodically check them to make sure they aren’t starting to crisp up too much, in which case I would turn the crock pot off.
I think these tasty bites are delicious all on their own, but if you want to add a little more interest you can serve them with a dipping sauce. I would suggest a sweet and tangy BBQ or a honey mustard sauce.
If you want to save yourself prep time on the day of your event, you can assemble the Bacon-Wrapped Little Smokies ahead of time. If you assemble the day before, cover them and refrigerate until ready to bake. If you want to assemble them several days, or weeks, ahead of time (say, during the Holiday season), you can cover and freeze them after assembling. Then bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked and starting to crisp up.
Warm up leftovers in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, depending on how many you have. You can also warm them up in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 350.
