FUDGY DARK CHOCOLATE BROWNIES – These rich and decadent brownies are wonderfully fudge-like, perfect for any chocolate lover. Serve with a glass of milk.
Here’s what you need
- All-purpose flour
- Unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa powder
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Granulated sugar
- Unsalted butter
- Vanilla extract
- Eggs
- Semisweet chocolate chips
Let’s get started
Preheated your oven to 325. Then, grease a 9×13 pan and layer it with parchment paper. If you haven’t already melted and cooled the unsalted butter, do so now.
Pull out a small bowl. Add and whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
In a larger bowl, add the sugar, butter, and vanilla. Whisk together until completely incorporated. It should lighten in color.
Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture. Use a spatula to carefully combine together until just barely integrated. Add in the chocolate chips, and carefully mix again until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared 9×13 pan. Using a spatula spread the batter evenly. Bake for 35-45 minutes (or until an inserted toothpick comes out mostly clean). Bake time will depend on what type of pan you’re using.
Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan. This should take at least 1 hour. You can cut the brownies while still in the pan, or grab the sides of the parchment to lift out and move to a cutting board. These brownies are thin, but big on taste!
Tips & Tricks
The type of pan matters: The material of the pan will affect cook times significantly. For example, dark metal will cook faster than glass or ceramic. It’s always a good idea to monitor whatever you’re baking, especially new recipes.
Grease your pan before layering with parchment paper: The grease keeps the parchment in place while you’re adding the brownie batter. I like to use 2 pieces of parchment crossing over in opposite directions.
Cool brownies completely before cutting into: Brownies will continue to cook a bit longer after pulling them out of the oven and need extra time to set. This is especially true with fudge-like brownies.
