CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE TREATS – Peanut butter flavored Rice Krispie treats, topped with a smooth chocolate butterscotch frosting.
If you love Rice Krispie treats, and you love chocolate and peanut butter together, these treats are for you! They are so delicious, and pretty much irresistible.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are so easy to make! In fact my teenage son made these the first time we had them, with minimal help from me.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats are pretty rich. If you’re serving them as part of a dessert spread, or sharing them at a pot-luck, I would recommend cutting them into smaller portions.
Store for 3-4 days in an airtight container. Although, don’t be surprised if they get eaten up quicker than that!

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISPIE TREATS - Peanut butter flavored Rice Krispie treats, topped with a smooth chocolate butterscotch frosting.
Ingredients
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter, at room temperature (do not use natural)
- Pinch of sea salt
- 5 cups Rice Krispie cereal
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup chopped Reese's Minis peanut butter cups (optional)
Instructions
- Line a 9x13 baking dish with tin foil, lightly grease.
- In a large saucepan set to medium-low heat, add the corn syrup, white sugar, and brown sugar.
- Stir to combine.
- Bring to a boil while stirring constantly, remove from heat.
- Add in 1 cup of peanut butter and sea salt, stir to combine.
- Add in the rice krispie cereal, stir to combine.
- Spread into the 9x13 pan, careful not to squish down the mixture too much.
- In a small saucepan set to low heat, add the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and 2 tablespoons of peanut butter.
- Cook and stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Pour evenly over the rice krispie mixture.
- Let it cool for 5-10 mintues, top with the chopped mini peanut butter cups. If the PB cups are melting more than you like, you can put the dish in the fridge for 30 minutes or so, to help them solidify.
