What I really love about this recipe is how quick and simple it is. It’s less than an hour from start to finish!
This recipe calls for sliced ham. I think bacon, sausage, or even chicken would be great as alternatives.
Corn Chowder with Ham & Tortellini is perfect served with rolls and a side salad. Try topping it with sour cream to make it even more creamy.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

- Onion
- Water
- Refrigerated cheese-filled tortellini
- Potatoes
- Sliced ham
- Can cream-style corn
- Can whole kernel corn with red and green peppers
- Can evaporated milk
- Marjoram
- Coarsely ground pepper
Corn Chowder with Ham & Tortellini
CORN CHOWDER WITH HAM & TORTELLINI - Ham and tortellini enhance the classic corn chowder in this quick and simple cool weather dish.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 3 cups water
- 1 (9 ounce) package refrigerated cheese-filled tortellini
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch cubes
- 1/2 pound sliced ham, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1 (16.5 ounce) can cream-style corn
- 1 (11 ounce) can whole kernel corn with red and green peppers, undrained
- 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
Instructions
- In a large stock pot heated to medium, melt the butter.
- Add the onion. Cook until translucent, stirring occasionally.
- Add the water, heat on high until boiling.
- Add the tortellini and potatoes. Return to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 15 mintues, stirring occationally. The potatoes should be tender at this point.
- Add the ham, cream-style corn, whole kernal corn, evaporated milk, marjoram, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Heat on high until boiling. Reduce to low heat, simmer uncovered for 5 mintues.
