HOMEMADE BREADSTICKS – These soft and buttery breadsticks are quick, easy and the perfect way to dress up your favorite pasta dish.
This recipe has been in my collection for many years. It was originally given to me by my good friend, Heather. Her and her husband had invited us over for dinner. She made these and I was instantly in love.
One of the reasons I love these breadsticks so much is that there is no rise time. I don’t have a lot of patience, and I don’t always have a lot time to prepare a meal.
I generally serve these breadsticks on spaghetti night. They’re always a big hit. They’re so good that no one seems to mind that the spaghetti sauce is straight out of the jar.
For variations try sprinkling a little Italian seasonings on top with the parmesan cheese or replacing the parmesan with mozzarella cheese.

- Warm water
- Yeast
- Sugar
- Salt
- Flour
- Butter
- Parmesan cheese
Homemade Breadsticks
HOMEMADE BREADSTICKS - These soft and buttery breadsticks are quick, easy and the perfect way to dress up your favorite pasta dish.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups flour
- 1 stick butter
- Parmesan cheese, to taste
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350.
- In stand mixer combine water, yeast and sugar. Let it sit until it bubbles.
- Mix in flour 1/2 cup at a time, making sure to completely incorporate with each addition. Add the salt along with the first 1/2 cup of flour.
- Add flour until the dough is soft to the touch and not sticky.
- On a floured surface, roll dough out into a 9x13 rectangle. Cut into strips.
- Melt butter, pour into 9x13 pan.
- Place each strip into the pan, rolling each in the butter to coat.
- Top with parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
