If you’ve ever been to a Mexican food restaurant chances are you seen, or tasted, Horchata (pronounced or-CHAH-tah). It’s a creamy, delicious, cinnamon flavored rice beverage. But did you know it’s actually very simple to make at home?
It requires very little work and consists of fairly common ingredients. And just to give you an idea of how truly easy it is to make, my son, at 10 years old, was actually the first to make this recipe.
It’s the perfect element to make Taco Tuesday or burrito night a little more festive. And honestly, you don’t even need to be serving Mexican food to enjoy this tasty beverage.
Make sure to blend the mixture really well. This will help to keep the Horchata from separating. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator, and stir before serving.
Here’s what you need to make Horchata…
- White rice
- Chopped almonds
- Cinnamon stick
- Evaporated milk
- White sugar
